| Plenty wont move the game forward when its easier to give spurious reasons why certain metrics are not being hit so they dont have to spend any money.
Sport is a passion project and there's just not enough multimillionaires who are prepared to continually fund loss making clubs for long periods of time.
Case in point the grand old "X team don't bring any fans / hardly any fans to games that's why were down on money" - easy to swallow tripe that's regurgitated and believed to be a genuine reason why teams should be punted. I mean its not X teams responsibility to sell out someone else's ground for them, its not their responsibility to advertise those games and perhaps put offers in place, discounts, make the game an event to get the punters in is it? Money is tight, rugby league is a predominately working class sport with all the issues that brings, working shifts / or having to do extra shifts / less disposable cash some weeks etc and not everyone can get to games under this climates financial pressures and especially when your team is getting pumped week in week out, who really wants to see that all for £50 when its on TV?
Look at the strides Wakefield have made in x2 years, new owners who've pumped cash in for sure, but having a dominant team who swept all before them in the championship coaxed the floating fans back in, they've steadily made improvements to the ground to get the fans in, get them interested and improved their offer immensely. Yes its still a weird little ground but they are on an upwards swing because they have owners who had the balls & brains to start upgrading the match day offer and appeal to the casual fans in wakey who maybe would've swerved them back in the disastrous last season in SL.
