The idea of burgess being here next season is just preposterous.... His race was run weeks ago... Yet here we are, still doing this silly little dance.
They have pretty much all given up for the season... The only players with anything to play for, are the ones looking to leave.
The next 8 games are going to be painful viewing unless the club makes a change.
I don't think the players have given up. There was plenty of honest endeavour out there yesterday and no team would have found it easy to run in a hatful of tries on a pitch that had a month's rain on it in the two hours before kick off.
But:- some of the players are very poor
- the execution of key plays was shocking
- there was an absence of leadership and common sense on the pitch and in the way we played the conditions
- the selection of players for those conditions was terrible
I put most of that down to poor recruitment and poor management.
There's an element of bad luck as well with the number of injuries we are carrying, but maybe our conditioning isn't as good as we are led to believe.
We had 3 nailed on first teamers missing, hardly decimated.
Ashton
Walker
Harrison
The team were only motivated this season to 1) reach Wembley 2) beat a poor St Helens.
There is a serious attitude problem with this team that Sam has not been able to cure. In fact he may has exacerbated it with his "management" style. There is no merit in keeping Sam Burgess in position for 2026.
Remember when we sacked Powell - we were in the Top 6 ....
