Not getting into this too much but I don't think you can moan too much with the six agains against you. Like us during the Woolf era you push the ruck time to the limits, slowing players down, usually Farrell coming 3rd man in and definitely slow down the ruck. This isn't an anti-Wigan thing, as I've said we were guilty of it for a while (and still are to an extent) but I'd wager that most non-Wigan fans would agree.
I can live with that for sure. Faz was a joke on Saturday in truth and I can live with any opposition fan looking at our discipline and any tactical approach to slow a game down but it doesn't give any explanation to the flip side, which is my focus and that is that we've been given 9 penalties in 5 games (I have no stats for six agains but I'm pretty confident it would be a pretty low figure as well). This isn't just you btw but every opposition fan that has responded to these points has gone 'you deserve to be penalised', totally ignoring us talking about what we get, not what we give away. Yeah fair enough, I can't comment on that It's hard to argue with the stats Stu, but obviously I wouldn't expect oppo fans to argue that Wigan are being reffed unfairly when everyone knows we have all the Wigan refs in our back pocket (© Redvee 2025 and every other year) I'm not usually one for unduly criticising refs except in extreme and obvious circumstances but I've been leaving games this season totally baffled and frustrated by refereeing performances and I didn't know why. I'm always aware that all fans can be a bit one eyed and I was putting it down to that but it felt like something more. Seeing the stats NK has posted totally explains it. I'd like to think I'm pretty fair minded and I'm not one of those who gets stuck in to refs, think they deserve abuse etc and I know it's an extremely challenging position but the figures in black and white, both this season and last that I've looked at have just been startling. I think there are many factors at the back of them and it's creating a bit of a perfect storm. If the club aren't looking to have conversations with people about this, they wouldn't be doing their job and I'm sure they've been doing it. Like many things in life, those who shout loudest, tend to get what they want and I don't think we're great at that but guys like Peet and Radlinski seem the sort who want to do things with class and to give the referees the respect they deserve, by not ranting about it in public (some would call it crying). That will surely need to change if things carry on as they are. This narrative that Peet is Mother Teresa does make me laugh. He's a bit of a s**thouse on the sly (not saying that's especially wrong) but he's definitely got another side to him and strikes me as someone who isn't backward at coming forward. I saw the spat with Willie Peters that he ended up apologising for and I note that he had a pop at Newman after the game for patting Harry Smith's head conveniently forgetting Smith doing exactly the same to Welsby at the Brick a couple of years ago (not sure if Peet was coach then) I think if Peet felt you were hard done by he would make his feelings known without a doubt. Ironically he was annoyed with Peters for spending all day moaning at the 4th official (something the BBC commentary mentioned on a few occasions). If that and calling a total and utter tool like Newman out (I'm sure you agree he is) makes him a sh*thouse on the sly, so be it. I just think he definitely has another side to him and I've seen the mask slip on a couple of occasions. With his coaching success we've not really seen that side of him but it has appeared on occasions. The clumsy point I'm making is that I don't think he would have any qualms about speaking up. He's also had a bit of a tiff with Burgess last year didn't he?

| Well obviously, if players are inside the 10, they'll get pinged for it. Unless it could be demonstrated that opposition sides are doing the same, and not getting penalised.

| Absolute comedy gold article by Aaron Bower today on Love Rugby League, about who gets the most penalties and in particular, who gets the most at home and his summing up is that HKR, Hull and Leeds get the most penalties at home because they're the fittest teams...ha ha. It's nothing to do with them having supporters who get stuck in to the refs for 80 minutes solid...honest!!
Goes without saying that Wigan are bottom (probably because all the players are unfit puddings).

| Rumours around that Catalans didn't get a penalty or six again during the 80 mins. The club that the RFL didn't want at Wembley doesn't get a pen in 80 mins, surely not!
It's so blatant they're doing it so everyone will notice.

They got one penalty for a kick out on the full but nothing else. I can never believe the refs are under instructions or that they're corrupt but what I will say is that I've never known a stranger time in Rugby League in terms of decisions we're seeing, how lopsided penalty counts are, how often they're going to the VR for decisions and then how long they are taking. I personally wouldn't put pressure on the refs individually but Phil Bentham should be under a huge microscope at the minute.

| Only fair to drag this back up after winning our third penalty count on the trot last night! We hadn't won a single penalty count until 3 games ago against Leigh and now it's 3 on the spin.
Maybe it is all about making a bit of noise! That isn't right but there you go.
