I think both clubs knew the arguments had gone on long enough.

Of course the rugby playing on it is irrelevant.



The weather has been the problem and the Latics playing on it all winter has cut it up something rotten. You only need to look where the damage is to see which sport has caused the damage.......it's in both football goal mouths and the central area of the pitch.



Not that it's Latics fault either. It's just one of those things.

Looks like the Latics are also fed up with the sh[ii[/it-stirring by the media.

I thought it was going to be worse than that yesterday:



Pi$$ing down with rain throughout the game, 3 inch of snow on it only hours earlier, 5-6 matches played on it in 3 weeks..............



........It was better than Headingley was the other week, that's for sure!

Nobody is saying the rugby doesnt contribute to the condition or lack thereof of the pitch - we're just fed up of being given the entire blame. The combination of the weather, the latics and the rugby have made the pitch how it is.

That was the BBC sh[ii[/it-stirring which the Latics quote completely shot down. Which is pretty much the point of the thread.

I suspect most of the media sent to cover Latics matches don't actually realise Rugby is played over the summer (you know what I mean!) and not the winter!



Sad but true, most of them probably are that ignorant.

I glanced at the pitch yesterday in the pub when latics played Spurs and the damage was around the goal mouth and other places the footballers were running, a real bad shape it was in but after an RL match on it never looks that bad IMO.
