But im not, i enjoy the sport.
What I cant handle it the attitude of the press towards it and other sports. What have Wigan RL done wrong - play on their own ground, a ground that wouldnt have been built without them. But yet the media, ignore all of that, and the fact that the stadium groundsman will tell you that its the football that does the damage, just to make their own bitter point that premierleague soccer hasnt captured the imagination of a RL town.
There isn't room for both top flight sports to continue at the DW in the long term, and Wigan Athletics slow decline along with Whelans loss of interest, will slowly see normal service resumed.

the telegraph can't stand Rugby League, probably because it's written by a load of yawnion loving toffs. have a look on that website and try to the RL page without typing it in the search bar. bunch of pricks
in all honesty i couldn't give 2 s if the state of the pitch affects latics chances of staying up, i just wish people would stop pinning the blame on us when the current state of it clearly has bugger all to do with us

| Since when have latics been part of the football establishment
The premier leauge would love clubs like bolton, wigan, burnley, blackburn and fulham to swap places with leeds, forest, newcastle and sheff weds
Again sly digs at the towns football club from the narrower minded individuals on the board,it all gets rather tedious on this board and cockney spastic with the are sports better than your sport are crowds bigger than your crowds argument, why can't some people accept that some people prefer rugby and some prefer football and some enjoy both.

This board tends to be for those who prefer rugby.
Not sure why you and one or two others don't seem to get that.
By all means support both yourself, but don't be upset or surprised when others on here don't.
Moreover, if you find these sort of threads tedious, I recommend you stay off them. They're not going to go away until the football press stops insinuating that Wigan RL should not be allowed to play on their own pitch, and I suspect that will only happen when Latics get relegated.

Just to play devil's advocate though, whilst I agree with your point in principle I do sometimes wonder why Wigan rugby fans still let themselves get so wound up about this issue - it must have been going on for 10 years now.
We're not going anywhere - we have a very long lease. If the football fraternity want to have a hissy fit let them. But I don't really see the point in responding.
Especially as this debate although it may happen every year only lasts around 6 -8 weeks of the year. After that, the pitch improves in the spring and we hear no more about it until the next year.
Its getting really tedious now.

| The pitch at the KC is just as bad as the DW. The Southern journalists, however, don't go on about it because they probably don't know rugby league is played on it. Wigan, however, is synonymous with rl....
The pitch, incidentally, is not playing into Latics' hands. Martinez is trying to get the team to pass from back to front. Whether the players are capable of that, even on a perfect pitch, is another matter.

| Cruncher it seems like some of you have an inferiority complex where football is concerned, its all well and good saying don't post on here if I don't agree with what's being posted but I'm entitled to an opinion as are you even if what I think your saying is bullocks.
As for the issue of the pitch and the national media let's have a look at it more closely
A lot of the big papers are union orientated and the tabloids are premier leauge orientated so they kill two birds with one stone taking digs at wigan because they don't want a club like latics in th pl at the expense of a leeds or forest,
And it winds the league fraternity up by suggesting the pitches problems are all the rugby teams fault

Understanding why it happens is fine if what you seek is knowledge. But if what you seek is a tolerable situation then it doesn't mean diddly squat ... especially when we remember that, thanks to pressure from the FA, we were shown the door once before - on the occasion of one of our most important home play-offs.
If having an inferiority complex means getting uncomfortable every time we enter a cup draw (in case the outcome is not okay with the FA), then yeah, I probably have got one. Under those circumstances, I'm surprised you haven't.
